Frequently Asked Questions

Can Dr. Carrie be my Primary Care Provider?

Yes, I am happy to be a primary care provider for adult patients as a naturopathic physician. Because NDs do not have hospital privileges, there are some situations where I would act as a specialist consultant and need to defer to the care of the presiding physicians. While I do not provide primary pediatric care, I can see pediatric patients in a specialist capacity, including those needing prescription medications.

Can Dr. Carrie prescribe medications?

Yes, naturopathic physicians in Washington State are trained in pharmacology and are capable of prescribing medications, including non-controlled substances like thyroid medication, birth control, and antibiotics. As a primary care provider, I generally start with diet and lifestyle interventions, then consider supplements, and only utilize medications when they are the best option. I specialize in treating perimenopause and menopause and prescribing bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
